GENE RYAN
Nearly 20 years ago, I chose to make Howard County my home—drawn here by the same things that matter to so many of us: safe communities, great schools, and a better quality of life.

Before that—and ever since—
I’ve dedicated my life to
public service.
I spent decades serving as a firefighter and paramedic, and later in emergency management and public administration. I know what it means to make decisions under pressure, solve complex problems, and deliver results that matter.

Here in Howard County, I’ve continued that service by sitting on the Board of Appeals and the Alcoholic Beverage Board, where I’ve helped make fair, balanced decisions about land use, licensing, and community concerns. These aren’t glamorous jobs—but they’re essential to how our county actually functions.

I also founded a nonprofit that supports
search-and-rescue K-9 teams, because when I see a need, I step up.

IN EVERY ROLE, I'VE FOCUSED ON THE SAME THING:
serving with integrity, applying the rules fairly, and doing what’s right.
